GreenSun 90

GreenSun 90 provides superior handling, degrades quickly into a fine powder and provides season long conversion to plant available sulfate with little risk of leaching. Not to be confused with traditional elemental sulfur products that degrade and convert to plant available sulfur very slowly, GreenSun 90 is designed to quickly convert to plant available sulfate sulfur.
Optimum Degradability
GreenSun 90 degradable elemental sulfur fertilizer is a granular
sulfur fertilizer made up of thousands of tiny particles in each pastille
(ie. Split pea granules). GreenSun 90 contains the best bentonitic swelling
agents found in North America which fracture the pastille and disperse
the particles when they come in contact with soil moisture. The of particle
sizes range from 50 to 200 mesh size providing the right mix of particle
sizing to provide season long conversion to sulfate sulfur.
Controlled Release Sulfur
Because GreenSun 90 degrades into tiny particles over a period
of time, it has the ability to release plant available sulfur over a
period of time. Ammonium Sulfate fertilizers (ie. 20-0-0-24) are in a
water soluble form and significant rainfall events or irrigation can quickly
move the sulfate sulfur below the root zone leaving the crop without
adequate sulfur fertility. As the sulfate sulfur in this situations
moves downward it can end up in groundwater and impact both water quality
and environment.
Early season oxidation of GreenSun 90 nutures crops as they germinate,
emerge, and grow through seed set. This long season oxidation process continues
to feed the crop throughout the year and provide sulfur nutrition at every
critical growth stage including seed set and filling stages.
Using GreenSun 90 prevents early, mid, and late season sulfur
deficiencies where they count…….YIELD!

SOIL AMENDMENT
In high pH soils such as many of those in the Western half of North America,
sulfur can act as an extremely effective soil amendment. The presence of
free lime in these soils allows for effective amendment potentials.
Acid forming materials such as GreenSun 90 go through a three step
process in amending soils:
1) sulfur + oxygen + water = sulfuric acid
2) sulfuric acid + lime = gypsum + carbon dioxide + water
3) gypsum + sodic soil = calcium soil + sodium sulfate
Good drainage and leaching are required to remove the sodium sulfate from
the soil profile.
When considering sulfur as an amendment, the particle sizing of the
sulfur must be taken into account. Elemental sulfur must be incorporated
and oxidized by Thiobacillus bacteria before it can be effective as an
amendment. The finer the material or greater the surface area, the faster
it will be oxidized in the soil. Finely divided particle sizing created
by the degradation of GreenSun 90 may oxidize within one season,
while coarse materials such as typical "soil sulfur" may take
years.
As a general rule of thumb for amending soils with GreenSun 90 as compared to pure elemental soil sulfur:
For every three units of soil sulfur used in a typical program, only
one unit of GreenSun 90 will produce better and quicker results
for approximately the same amount of money.
Ie. A program using 1000# per acre of soil sulfur can be replaced with
333# per acre of GreenSun 90.
